Mardi Gras Crafts for Kids: Paper Plate Party Mask
Mardi Gras crafting for kids!
I love a parade! And king cakesโฆ and jambalayaโฆ and powder sugar covered pฤ czkis (delicious Polish donuts)โฆ Iโm getting hungry over here! Mardi Gras is one of the biggest parties around, so why not celebrate in a family-friendly way at home! These colorful paper plate masks are a fun and easy way to craft up a party costume with just a few simple supplies you probably have laying around the house.
Not only do you end up with a festive mask, but this is also a great exercise to teach color theory and color combinations by mixing paints or seeing what happens when you layer crayon or marker colors. It is also a great opportunity to discuss the history of Mardi Gras and itโs traditions.
This craft is very versatile as it can be made with literally anything you can think of: paint, crayons, markers, rhinestones, clay, feathers, glitter, sequins, etc. The possibilities are endless! And if thatโs not enough, whip up some matching necklaces by stringing some handmade clay beads or dried pasta!
