DIY Christmas Card with Connector Paints & Pitt Artist Pens
Hey guys! Today I’m going to give you the rundown on how I created this cute holiday art! It’s so versatile and can be used as Christmas décor, gift tags, or even DIY Christmas cards!
I am using my Connector Watercolor Paints by Faber Castell. I used this with my Deluxe Water Brush and Pitt Artist Pens® to finish it off!
The whole goal for me was to achieve a beautiful, bright color bleed and then go in later with my medium tip Pitt Pen for definition and that fun, loose, cartoon look.
The first step is to sketch out your layout and lettering. Then you will want to lay down a lot of paint with water so that there is a light layer of moisture. When you go back in with more pigment, it creates a beautiful blend and texture. Paint the surround trees in the complementing light green color and make sure to carefully drag your brush very close to the edge of the darker green. This will give you a beautiful color bleed! I also used this technique with the brown trunks. If your bleeds get a little crazy, no worries- just lightly dab with the corner of a paper towel to absorb the unwanted color!
Allow this first layer of paint to dry. Go back in with the corresponding colors if desired to add more definition into the foliage. I added some fun stars to the top of my trees!
I added in some lettering with my Pitt Artist Pens in Medium and Brush tip I finished off my art by adding a whimsical loose outline with the medium pen!
I ended up framing my piece and I will use it as home décor for the holidays. Perfect for the season and the beginning of December!
